It's haiku season again! Get those pencils writing.

It seems busking doesn't pay as well as some may think. Even Badly Drawn Boy only managed £1.60 in 90 minutes. The Guardian then sent out a team of their reporters to see how they fared. The highest was £17.73 for Emily de Peyer a features assistant playing on the harp. But I suppose the trick is to find a portable instrument. Can't imagine lugging a piano around but £17.73 for skills just short of grade 4, does have a certain amount of appeal! I wonder if the couple of Dylan tracks I can strum badly on guitar would make any more? Or perhaps a little jig or a reel on the bodhran or penny whistle? I thought about all the instruments I have ever attempted to play and decided that "Rowan Tree" on the mouth organ, a couple of bad chords on the accordian, even worse rendering of the chanter, several beginners classics on the flute (yes that's about it even after about 4 years - but it is portable) Even better, I think I should round up all the people I know who are currently learning instruments (truly scary!) and take off down to Princes Street on Saturday to see if collectively we could make more than £20....all we need is a name...

More often than not, it's the upsetting dreams which linger, making a night of insomnia almost welcome. So, a little writing, a little thinking and eventually drifting, exhausted into sleep. But no dreams........and that's just fine.

Introverted or know someone who is? An interesting concept. I think everyone knows one. Read up on how to care for yours.

Not alot to say at the moment. But it would appear that spring is definitely in the air - and all that goes with it.

Just had the weirdest feeling - sitting at my pc, I felt a sort of mild panic, as if something was missing. Then I thought it's my seat-belt! I'm not wearing a seat belt. For some reason, I felt strangely exposed.........perhaps I've been driving too long!! Weird or what?

There is something which just doesn't feel right. Army tanks at Heathrow, a huge military presence in other areas. They say that truth is the first casualty of war. Joseph Goebbels certainly knew this between 1933-1945 with his Nazi propaganda of war. So how do we know what is really going on? Supposed tapes from Osama bin Laden, urging suicide attacks on the US. Are they a hoax or not? What really sticks in my throat is that although George Bush undoubtedly still has support from many in his own country, we should not forget that his country is one which still thinks the death penalty is acceptable. Perhaps Tony should start to listen to his own countrymen and less of the American propaganda, before he thinks it's acceptable to do it here.

As I mentioned on 22nd January, the Scottish stop the war demonstration will be held on Saturday. Meet me there, 10am Glasgow Green. (Does my being there, infecting thousands of people with flu, constitute biological warfare??)

Found a good word of the day today..........exactly how I feel but so far it's without the benefit of the alcohol and drugs.....but the day is yet young.

How do you turn a penguine into a sole singer?.........................
Put it in the oven until it's Bill Withers :-)

Apparently, according to my biorhythms, (see the link on the left) my intellectual and physical cycles are at a peak today - but my emotional one is the pits. What does this mean? Perhaps it means I can work out the full trajectory of the sledge whilst hurtling full pelt downhill on the recently fallen snow - but if I crash I will cry? Maybe if I try to work it out in conjunction with my horoscope it would make sense - although that says "Some difficult decisions lie ahead. Conflicts between who you feel you really are and the opportunity to broaden your horizons can no longer be ignored." Mmmm, maybe some truth in that? Perhaps I should be thinking about broadening my horizons by taking up skiing or snowboarding instead of sledging..........maybe even in the Alps, or Canada or somewhere.

Have added One Word to my links. This is a great idea to get the creativity started.

As I sit at work, on a beautiful sunny day when I should be shopping with the children and preparing the house for the final stage of the kitchen (i.e. the total removal of what has been left for the last couple of weeks). Distraction and the necessity to easy my eyes, led me to the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) site. There is a full update of the inspection. A quick chronology of main events and if your looking for a change of carrer - how to be a weapons inspector! Better money than I get for sitting here freezing to death in an unheated building!

On another note. Gaelic speakers may be dismayed to hear that an official report, by the General Registrar Office Scotland, to be published in a few weeks has concluded that the gaelic language is dying. Only 60,000 speakers! But never fear, Fort William are leading the way to a modern revival with "MacDhomhnaill’s" renamed there is now hope that the younger generation will embrace their heritage..............but whose heritage?????????? America's? The report is seen as being slightly off-target with revival and enthusiasm of the language in many areas. If primarly schools in Aberdeen can teach 5 year olds French, is there not some way we can incorporate gaelic into the national curriculum of Scotland to ensure gaelic does not die out? And for the rest of you who keep saying you will learn but never get round to it, be an example to your children and don't forget your own heritage, teach them theirs...........to get you started Tha an t-acras orm. Tha mi ag iarraidh briosgaid, ma 'se ur toil e.
