A couple of weeks ago, I heard part of a radio debate on "the housewife". At the time I started a posting about it but never got round to getting it live. I came across it today and decided to finish it, so whilst the idea is a few weeks old the sentiment it arose in me is still current. More.... Saturday, June 21
This weekend the Royal Highland Show is on and we had planned to go. There is usually lots happening, loads of stalls proferring free samples of food and alcohol and I had hoped to have a go at the climbing wall. However, at 08:30 this morning the postman delivered the fifth in the Harry Potter series Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling. This was duly delivered to a slumbering SYD and as she has now started it I'm not sure the rest of us will manage to prize her away from it! This made me realise I have not yet read the fourth book "The Goblet of Fire" and a search around the house ensued. I found it and although I won't start it yet, I have decided I will read it (even thought Amazon still say the reading age is 9-12yrs!!!). The new book is even longer than the last at 766 pages. But if you have been living on another planet for the last 10 years and don't know who JK is there is a whole site devolted to links to her. The most recent interview with Jeremy Paxman for Newsnight doesn't give much away about the new book, apart from the fact that Harry is more of an angry hormonal teenager and there will be a horrible death! Great stuff! If you have children who are interested in HP I am sure they will have found the Bloomsbury site, but if they haven't, it's worth a look - good for adults too. Friday, June 20
Courtesy of Anna at Little Red Boat, Cryptraider is fun. And thanks to Leanne at Indigoblog I found this really good site of black and white photographs, including some of Scotland by Thomas Gruetmann. Thursday, June 12
At a time when nothing seems to have gone right this year for me or my family, I could almost believe someone has put a curse on us. However, my superstitious nature about a broken mirror bringing seven years bad luck might prevent me from attempting this reversal. If anyone else knows a good spell to exorcise demons let me know. One of the fastest growing web-sites in Britain is Nice cup of tea and a sit down, which is a site dedicated to biscuits! If you have a spare minute in your tea break try feeding bread to the duck. If eating biscuits and sitting at the pc doesn't re-size your posterior, why not go for the cosmetic alternative of bottom implants, which apparently are the latest thing in cosmetic surgery! Yeuch! Thank you J-Lo, Kylie and Annastasia. Yes, sad to say all my news is hot off the Richard & Judy show which unfortunately I have just discovered is on TV every weekday evening at 5pm.
