11/12/2005: "Excited"

I'm very excited. hehe Today I found a little shop that sells tools for making jewellery. I now have a saw, clamp, files, a drill (teeny wee thing) drill heads and yes I gave in and bought a piece of silver and some silver wire to play with. I also went to the art shop and bought some tools to carve plaster with so I can get on with my scultpure too. This afternoon I set up a termporary workstation at the kitchen table and managed to saw, file and drill the copper I'm currently working on. I'm in, child in a sweetie shop mode.

It's great fun. I didn't get into the jewellery right away. There is a lot to learn on the technical side and some bits are confusing or just plain fiddly. But I'm working on an idea now which will have to be done at home some of the time or I won't get it finished. I'll try to put a couple of pics up.

Ohhh, I feel jealous too! I make beaded earrings and stuff but I've always wanted some real tools. I hope you post images of all the neato things I'm sure you're going to make.

Ooooo jealous. I've always wanted to give silversmithing a go, but never had the time to take a class. Can't wait to see what kinds of lovely things you'll be making!
