Today I saw a grey wagtail bobbing about on a roof (a flat roof with a huge puddle!) outside the window. Think i'll have to keep a tick list. One bird I don't want to see though is the aggressive houdini bird.

OK, so it's a bit late but I managed to think of a few things that I did last year. As this is my blog, I've concentrated on the things that pertain to me, not the political or wider world things we all know happened; the disasters, floodings, bombings etc., so please don't read if you are not interested. It's really just me reminding myself of things I did or achievements etc.

This poor whale! Go back! Go back! (It's not a pilot btw, it's a bottlenose - more commonly found in the North Pacific Ocean so it's just a little off course). Watch the video though if you can.

If ever there is a conclusion to a person’s life on this earth it is probably the funeral. I attended Sarah’s funeral today but I couldn’t bring myself to think this was goodbye because there was so much life to celebrate and so many people there. It didn’t feel like a goodbye and although it was suggested we should never try to think what a loved one or friend would think, it felt like the sort of finale Sarah would have liked.

I upgraded my phone about a month or so ago. There are a few new pics from it on Flickr. I still need to write up where we went over the Christmas break and will take time to do that soon but the recent pics were taken over the break. Meanwhile, classes started again tonight and it was good to get back to my wood carving. Jewellery tomorrow. I'm still in my old place of work until the end of the month. I hope to get back to writing a bit more soon but a combination of busyness and sadness has been keeping me away from posting.

Sarah passed away this evening. She was a wonderful, lively, vibrant person and the world will be a quieter and much sadder place without her. When I am more composed I may write more about the person she was to me. In the meantime, I leave you her legacy - her livejournal, Seolta. The last few posts are from one of her best friends.
My thoughts are with all who knew Sarah, her closest friends and her family who have all been so incredibly brave throughout the last traumatic few weeks. Meanwhile, I am off to pour myself one of Sarah's favourites, a Springbank and drink a toast to thank her for allowing me the pleasure of knowing her during her short life.

Happy New Year everyone.
I am back and had a lovely Christmas and a good time up north. I hope you all did too. Sadly the friend who is very ill is being moved to a hospice today and I can't bring myself to write much or show you the wonderful photos I took over the last week or so. I will get around to it and do a resume of 2005 but so far 2006 is looking like it's going to have a tragic beginning. I'll get back to you all soon.
