Soooooooo Shallow

"Not knowing when the dawn will come, I open every door."—Emily Dickinson

Good philosophy. Doors are there to be opened and shop doors are even more fun. There is nothing like serious retail therapy to cheer a girl up. Nothing like serious retail therapy to cheer an old girl up. So today I took SED and SYD into town and boy did we shop... rolls eyes

John Peel

Very sad that John Peel has died. He was a great DJ and spotter of new bands and always gave the smaller ones air play. (Respect grew when he gave air time to an ex's sister's boyfriend's band 'The Scars' in the 80's) I have spent many hours listening to his shows and taking his advice on what music to invest in. I'll miss his dulcit tones and dry sense of humour.

Diary from North Uist

As promised here is my diary from North Uist. Also a few very bad photos from the £30 digicam. If the rest work out might scan some in next week.

No time

Ok, so I haven't had time to write anything this week. And now I'm off on holiday for two weeks (hurray!!!) . I think I will get plenty of time to catch up with the things I want to as I'm off to Uist and will be taking lots of photographs, painting, drawing and doing some writing when I'm away (weather here is dreadful so a wet week on a west coast island is probably very conducive to sitting in and doing all the aforementioned). Hope you are are well. :-)

City of Literature

Edinburgh has been named the world's first city of literature. That's great news. And in case your wondering where I've been, I am still around just not managing the juggling bit at the moment. Will try to write more soon.

Poetry

It's national poetry day today so get writing. Congratulations to Kathleen Jamie who won the £10,000 Forward Prize - poetry’s equivalent of the Booker Prize.

I thought this Calendar Girl story from the Borders deserved a bit of publicity - just because I think the irony is really funny.

My contribution to national poetry day, inspired by the beautiful sunlight greenery I passed on my way to work and cleverly intertwined with this year's theme of food. Please feel free to add your own poetic contributions to this wonderful work of genius...

Art and Leather

Today turned into a good day. Both SED and SYD were busy with rehersals for the "Wizard of Oz" and SO felt the urge to spend money on a painting. Not needing to be asked twice to help spend money I gladly accompanied him. On the way we stopped at a beautiful leather shop and he bought me a new bag :-)

Looking for the bright side

Having my own office is really great. I accomplished so much more that I would have otherwise in a day. However, I recon I was over tired because sleep just didn't happen much last night. And so a boring glimpse into my night begins....
